If you're anything like me, you've always been slightly jealous of those savvy thrift shoppers that can find stylish gems for under five bucks. To be honest, the idea of sifting through endless racks of clothing is a little overwhelming and I never know where to start.

Well, this past weekend I decided to put those wise lyrics to practice. I grabbed a friend for moral support (and lets be honest an extra set of hands — Thrifting takes time and work people!) and headed to the local second-hand shop.

As I roamed the countless aisles I came upon these adorable plaid printed pants. I grabbed them thinking there is absolutely no way I will be able to rock these, but then I said to myself "Lyss, just try it on" and just like that they fit like a glove. Also, they were cheaper than the 2 for $2 menu at McDonalds, so trust me I'd make them fit.

These plaid printed high waisted pants make the perfect statement. Paired with a simple sweater and some slip-on loafers (I love this shoe trend), its a great outfit for strolling your favorite shops with class and definite style.

So, I encourage everyone to put on some comfortable shoes, get over the fear and start searching for those hidden gems. Trust me, the pay off, or rather, very small payment is worth it!
